Fisher Stevens and Louie Psihoyos win Oscar for the documentary ‘The Cove’
The aquatic documentary, ‘The Cave’, produced by Fisher Stevens and directed by Louie Psihoyos has won the best Documentary Award at the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony.
The documentary was based on dolphins residing in a National Park in Taiji, Wakayama, Japan. Fisher and Louie with the help of the film tried to raise awareness about the anti-dolphin hunting campaign and also exposed the merciless killing of dolphins at a Cove in Japan.
Though Fisher’s name might generate some inhospitable sentiments in the marine world but after the screening of the documentary atleast the dolphins would definitely have given him and his team a standing ovation.
In his acceptance speech, Fisher thanked Ric O Barry, an animal rights activist, and said the film was based on Barry’s tireless efforts and endeavors. He also said that he wanted
to make the film entertaining as well as enlightening and it looks like he has definitely been successful so far.
Fisher Stevens was born on November 27, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois and by profession is an actor as well as a producer. He is famously known for his roles of Chuck Fisherman on Early Edition and Eugene Belford in Hackers.
In 1987, Fisher established Naked Angels Theater Company with his friend Ned Eisenberg. He also possesses a production house by the name of GreeneStreet Films.
In recent years Fisher Stevens featured in the 2007 movie Awake and in hit TV series such as Lost and Numb3rs.
